Hi and thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to check us out. My name is Mavis and I was born and raised right here in Edmonton. One day, Joka, her husband Marco, and I decided we would create a place where we could have fun doing what we love and extend that fun nature towards our four-legged clients and their two-legged best friends thus creating HOLLYWOOF! I have always had a love for animals and knew that one day "when I grew up" I would work with them. I started hobby grooming around the age of 14 and since then have made a career out of it. I LOVE MY JOB! not a lot of people can say that and I am proud to be one of the few. I decided to make it a bit more fun by adding creativity into my work (check out the photos below) Grooming dogs is fun but can be challenging at times. I decided to go back to school to learn more about our canine friends and went on to learn about animal behavior. Since then I have found much more relaxing and positive techniques to groom the more fearful and nervous clients. I don't want to take too much of your time so i would like to show you some of my work... a picture is worth a thousand words... so to say.

Hello I am Joka, I came to Canada from Holland three years ago with my husband Marco. We were looking for a new adventure in our lives. I started looking for a new career already, knew I wanted to work with dogs and did a course in basic dog behavior. After that I went to look into grooming and started training in Holland. In Edmonton I worked for two years as a groomer with the plan to start my own shop eventually. At the job I met Mavis and soon it was clear we were on the same page about grooming and working with dogs. We wanted to create a place where dogs and owners would be comfortable, relaxed and a fun place to work in. So we made our dream come true and are the owners of HOLLYWOOF GROOMING PARLOR!! We wish you are as happy with us as we are with you.

Hello, I am Jannet. I'd like to start off with, I LOVE DOGS! I have three dogs and two cats. Rosco, Tika and Momo and my kitties are Nuka and Belle. I first met Mavis and Joka when I was 19 and had worked with them for several years as a bather. They went on to open their shop and offered me an opportunity I could not refuse. They hired me as their apprentice groomer. I spent two years under their watchful eyes, learning all the skills it takes to be a great groomer as well as a lot of knowledge in animal behaviour and how to safely groom dogs of all ages, size and behaviour.
I have had opportunities to work with rescue dogs and have felt such great gratitude from those I have helped. I feel I have found my true calling in the grooming world and am firmly planting my feet into this industry. I have since graduated to a full time dog groomer. As you can see below I have acquired the necessary skills to be a good groomer and to create happy, beautifully groomed dogs. Everyday I come to work I strive to gain more knowledge and more skills to better my abilities. I hope you love it here as much as I do! I am surrounded with people like me. People who love and care for dogs and animals as much as I do :) I hope to meet you and your four legged best friend soon! |

Hi and thanks for stopping by! I'm Tara, a proud mother of a beautiful little girl :) I have been grooming for roughly 10 years and have worked with Mavis, Joka, Jess, Caitlyn and Jannet even before Hollywoof was born. I love coming into work everyday because I know I will be doing what I love (grooming dogs) and working with people I love, respect, and admire. Everyone here loves dogs and all animals really. I live on an acreage with three dogs karma, Kada and Akio and quite a few barn kitties. Before I became a groomer I had finished as a therapeutic masseuse. But when I started grooming dogs I just fell in love.
Grooming allows me to be creative and it also allows me to help dogs be more comfortable in their own skin. I delight in seeing owners pick up their pet and squeal over how cute they are and how much they love them, knowing, that dog is going home to be loved and cuddled by all his family members. Grooming is so much more than just washing, drying and styling... It requires a lot of patience and care. In my 10 years of experience I have learned skills and techniques to properly and safely execute beautiful grooms. I still continue to thrive and learn more with every dog I groom. Here are a couple shots of my work :) I hope to see you in the Parlor soon! |

Hey! I'm Jessica! I've been a groomer now for roughly 15 years. I have worked with this team for over 5 years and feel I have finally found the right place for me. I enjoy dog grooming and do not plan to stop anytime soon. I am happy to have found a permanent place here at Hollywoof. We are like a family and we all share the same love for pets. I have never been challenged to do anything other than basic pet grooming at my previous job but at Hollywoof I am encouraged to grow and learn more about grooming and the ever charging dynamics of the different pet styles. I have always been taught the "proper breed clips" I feel confident in my ability to groom breed patterns as I have done it for 15 years but am now learning the joy and fun of creative grooming! I love making dogs not just look and feel clean but look and feel like a super star.
Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I am currently seeking out THE dog for me. And have been searching rescue groups. I would love a dog to take home and love and care for but I want the right one fore me and my cats. I have two cats Smudge and Scrapper. I used to have a sheltie named Larry. I have also had many years of experience with Dog Behaviour. In the years I had Larry we had gone through obedience trials and have competed against other dogs and people pairs. I found it helped me understand dogs on a different level and allowed me a way to communicate and understand them better, thus helping me when I have a dog on my table. I really hope to see you and your best furry friend soon! In the mean time, here are a couple pics of my handy work ;) enjoy! |
